Erica Sturla

Erica works in polymer clay and acrylics to create figurative, three dimensional scenes.

She enjoys the humour, colour and movement that creating the figures in clay brings to her subjects and this contrasts with the more studied approach of the background painting. Inspirations are firmly rooted in everyday life - the joy is in creating a painting that celebrates the familiar in a new way.

Erica shows work in a number of galleries across the UK. Her designs appear on several ranges of greetings cards, stationery and products for the home by Holy Mackerel. She is proud to have her work on cards in the British Museum and tea towels in the Tower of London!

Trained in Fashion illustration/journalism and a member of the Association of Illustrators for many years, Erica also creates digital drawings. She was commissioned by London Transport Museum to create the marketing image for 2015 prestigious Prize for Illustration exhibition. Current projects include a series of drawings celebrating The Great British Seaside, with "Margate Rocks!" being the most recently completed and the inspiration for the title of this exhibition.
