Kim Haskins - ‘Fur and Feathers’
Saturday 21st April- Saturday 19th May
An exhibition of paintings and prints by humorous artist Kim Haskins, daughter of artist John Haskins, featuring her well known and much loved cats, dogs and chickens.
Kim Haskins has been painting humorous animals since childhood, and become a professional artist in 2009 after a couple of successful exhibitions in the south east of England. In 2010 Kim was signed by renowned fine art publishers Washington Green who have since helped her cat paintings gain national and international recognition.
‘I paint a range of animals, especially chickens, British birds, dogs and of course cats. There’s a deadpan sense of humour in pretty much all the subjects of my work. Hence the manic appearance of my chickens or the vacant expression on the explosively furry cats. I love animals - particularly their colours, textures and personalities - so I often try to characterise them in my work. Cats are most familiar to me, I own two mogs who stay disconcertingly close to me and my wet paint while I’m working. I hope my artwork invokes joy. At the end of the day, I want people to feel happy when looking at my pictures. I am very much looking forward to having my first solo exhibition at Lovelys Gallery in April.’
All of Kim's work will be available for purchase during the exhibition.
Kim will be present at the Gallery on the opening Saturday from 11am to 3pm. |
