Following a Foundation course at the Harrogate College of
Art, Sarah Szikora went on to study illustration at the Cleveland
College of Art. In 1991 she set up her own business making
and selling papier-mâché models and then took the opportunity
to offer her paintings for sale. Encouraged by her success,
she has continued to paint 'non stop' ever since.
A self confessed people watcher, Sarah draws much inspiration
from the day to day scenes found in towns anywhere and the
wealth of personally embarrassing incidents that unite us
all. Sarah's aim is most definitely not to ridicule but to
promote the idea of a society that likes itself and where
her people, the women especially, are confident, positive
characters, comfortable with their own bodies. Sarah is very
serious about her work, but most of all she wants to make
people smile.
