Sheila was born in Ireland in 1968. She studied fine art painting at the Limerick School of Art, gaining a distinction in painting in 1990. She pursued a Master Degree in Fine Art at the University of Wales, 1991-1993.
Sheila won a prestigious American award sponsored by Liquitex paint manufacturers of fine art materials for demonstrating outstanding achievement in the painting discipline. (1993)
To develop her talent she moved to Brighton working freelance, exhibiting at the Markovitch gallery in London.
Following a teaching degree at the University of Brighton 1998, she moved to Whitstable taking up a post as Art Teacher followed by Head of Department and Art Examiner at secondary school in Canterbury.
After teaching for eight years, sheila decided to truly follow her passion by concentrating on painting mainly full time with some p/t teaching around the county.
"Painting is a joy, a passion and a way of life to which I am truly committed, for the pleasure it gives to me and to others."
My work is inspired by my surroundings, Whitstable and the Kentish coast. The activity of the harbour and sea are translated into images of vibrant colour and emotional memory.
I have exhibited in a number of galleries in Ireland with paintings in public and private collections. I currently exhibit in galleries in Kent.
